Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune established in 1888 is one of the oldest educational societies in the state of Maharashtra. It manages 41 educational institutions in Maharashtra.

Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali manages Sri. Parshurambhau College, (Popularly known as S.P. College & Tilak College of Education in Pune. It also Manages Nutan Marathi Vidyalay (Popularly known as NMV), Ruia Mook Badhir Vidyalay & Naralkar Institute of Management in Pune. In Solapur it manages Haribhai Devkaran Prashala, (Popularly known as H D High School ).

In Mumbai, Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali started R.A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics, in 1941. This College has earned a reputation as one of the best Commerce College in this part of the country. Ramnarain Ruia College of S.P. Mandali has also earned reputation as one of the best Arts & Science College in Mumbai. The Institute of Commerce started By S.P. Mandali in Mumbai has also earned a name for giving professional Training for CA and ICWA Courses.

Assessing the growing need in the corporate sector for scientific Management, the Mandali as early as in 1974, obtained permission of the University of Bombay for conducting DMS i.e. two years part time Diploma Program in Management Studies.

The overwhelming response to the management training programs by the Indian industry and students in general prompted the S.P. Mandali to establish in June 1977 a separate Management Institute named after Prof. L.N. Welingkar past Principal of R.A. Podar College and an eminent educationist. The institute has kept the goal of facilitating the expansion of management philosophy to all spheres of life.
