Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research was established by the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali in the year 1977. It was named after Prof. L.N. Welingkar past Principal of R.A. Podar College and an eminent educationist.

The institute is committed to produce outstanding managers with broad based knowledge, analytical ability, team experience and critical interpersonal skills necessary to meet today’s and tomorrow’s management challenges.

The research conducted by MDRA and Outlook placed Welingkar Institute Of Management among the top 25 in the country’s management institutes. The survey was on the basis of Industry Interface, Placements, Academic environment and Infrastructure. Welingkar ranks 16th as per the Outlook’s . Top B-Schools Survey 2003 and 14th in South Asia as per Asia Inc. Survey.

Highest Intellectual capital index

In a recent survey of over 300 schools in India conducted the Business amongst B-school in Mumbai with reference to intellectual capital index. The index measures the Student Faculty Development Budget Journal. The Institute has thus managed to attract and retain the best talent to lecture the students. The Institutes was rated among “A” Grade B-Schools in the country.

International tie-ups

The Institute has established linkages with the Temple University, Philadelphia and Hamamatsu university, Japan. The institutes aim is to establish at least five such International tie-ups in the following two years. Welingkar has engineered foreign tie ups with the Fox School of Business, USA and the Hamamatsu University, Japan.

ISO 9001 – 2000

Welingkar is the First A-Grade Management Institute to have obtained ISO 9001 –2000, certified by BVQI. The scope of the certificate includes the Mumbai University Master Level Program (Full time and part time) & All India Council for Technical Education recognized Post Graduate Programs, Autonomous Program designed by Welingkar and Management Development Programs conducted for corporates and all autonomous one year and six months diploma programs conducted by the Institute.
